Entering the world of home ownership
In July, my wife and I relocated from the Central New York region to Lincoln, Nebraska, so that she could begin pursuing her Ph.D at UNL. While this move brought many firsts with it, such as moving across the country, one of the most exciting aspects (for me) is that it also brought first time home ownership with it. Requesting dangerous permissions on Android
Back in the golden days (Android SDK versions smaller than 23), the only thing an Android application developer had to do to request permissions for his or her app was to declare them in the manifest file of their application. A Big Green Egg Breakfast

Unexplained image rotation with Jekyll
In building this site, one of the things I encountered was that an image I was trying to include in a post keep appearing rotated for some unknown reason. Having been a little rusty on the web development front, I kept assuming that I must be doing something wrong–perhaps a mistake in the HTML, or more likely, some sort of “confusion” in the CSS. But I also use Jekyll? Who the heck knows what’s going on here!!

Veteran's Day PBC Prime Rib
One of my favorite things about cooking and barbecuing is doing it with my closest friends. I love the closeness and comradiere that is experienced in preparing a meal together. Also, when someone else volunteers to buy the Prime Rib!

Pit Barrel Cooker Co Turkey Hangers - A First Impression
Recently, the Pit Barrel Cooker Co introduced one of their newest accessories; the turkey hanger. Although it was possible to cook turkey with the Pit Barrel before, the release of the turkey hanger raises the obvious question: Is one worth it?

Is your Twitter Card not working?
In building this site, one of the early features I wanted to implement was Twitter Cards. Twitter Cards is the feature that allows tweets to have an associated image making the summary view of the tweet more appealing. For example, see this tweet that features only a small thumbnail and brief summary:

This is the inaugural post of this blog, the venue where I’ll share thoughts and insights into the topics of technology, computer science, cooking, and the outdoors. Of course, you’d probably like to know a little bit more about me.
